While the great lakes have produced mostly rain, the upper Midwest has been slowly catching up. Duluth, MN has been slowly creeping its way to the top, now less than inch away from taking the top spot from Syracuse. Sioux Falls likewise has worked its way onto the podium, bumping long-time leader Erie down to 4th on the strength of 6 inches in the last week.
I see a tiny 3-5" squall in the long-range forecast for Monday in Syracuse though - can Duluth catch up before then? Is this just yet another false alarm from NWS? We shall see.
